383 tunnel ram
« on: December 29, 2001 - 04:51:31 AM »
Who makes one that is good for the street?
What are good carbs. to run on a basicly stock
1969 383? we plan on shaving the heads, and installing
a better cam,but other than that it'll be a stock rebuild for right now.I'm doing this for shock value more than actual
perfomance, but i'd still like it to run without my eye's burning;and gas running out my tailpipes!LOL
Any of you members have a used tunnel ram you'd sell?

I believe Mopar has the M1 tunnel rams out now & they are supposed to be better than previous Tunnels, I would put the smallest carbs available on it, Holley makes a 390 cfm 4bbl
Having said that you may find that your "shock value" is counter productive in that your perfomance won`t match your image, I`ve seen a few tunnels work on the street but they are really designed for wide open throttle & high rpm. If you want real shock value bolt a BDS blower on & make 700 hp ;)

A blower would be nice for shock value :o
But a little out of my price range.
There's gotta be a way to make a tunnel ram work?
what would i have to do? Porting and polishing the heads, convertor, gears? Let me know ;D

A loose converter & gears will definatly help as it will allow the engine to get into the power band more easily, Small carbs like the 390 cfm Holleys & tuning will get it working ok ;)

I would stay away from the tunnel ram. If you want shock value go with a 6-pack. You maybe the one shocked when a 4 barrell car blow's by you.
