17x13 17x10 viper rims on 1970 cuda, should I do it?
« on: September 28, 2010 - 05:50:27 PM »
Just upgraded my rims on my 98 rt/10 to 18 inchers and I have my 17's with good rubber jsut sitting. I'd love to put those 335 30 17's on the back. Probably take a minitub os some sort, but tha would make a crazy sick looking cuda + its all mopar - If anyone has done it or seen it done, I'm trying to figure out a part list and what it will take to get it done or jsut sell them on craigslsit and put the money toward nice ralleye wheels

Isn't the Viper a 6-lug wheel?  You'll need to re-drill your rotors (if possible) or have someone like this guy (http://www.wheeladapter.com/) make a set of adapters.

yes you are right they are 6 lug- I'm going to sell them off and fund the correct size wheels - on a side note going from a 17 inch rim to a 18 on my viper made a huge difference feels like its on rails- might just be the toyo's over the michelins - I'm never buy a set of michelins for my viper again

Yikes!  Michelin's are great tires.  If your tires were old, any tire will get hard and not grip.  I've had around 10 vipers and I can tell you there is a HUGE difference between old rubber and new rubber.  If you had 17" rims your viper was not any newer than 1998 and most likely was just old tires not the brand.

I've had good luck with both Toyo's and Michelin's, but both will suck after they get old.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

talkwrench, did your car come with a factory swaybar?

when you get around to mounting it up be sure to take some pictures, i have an addco bar awaiting installation, so i could use the motivation to get it finished lol
