i just saw a number stamped on the transmission hump, in the inside of the car. right behind the shifter. it started with SS, but did the numbers following did not match the VIN sequence.

SS stands for Sterling Stampworks in Sterling Heights, MI. It was Chrysler's stamping plant for sheetmetal.
