Since they sent you a picture of your infraction and there will be a fine levied against you for that infraction, I have a simple solution.  Assume the fine levied is $500.00. I suggest you collect $500.00 cash and spread it out on a table. Take a picture of the cash and send it back to them.   :picture:  Turnabout is fair play.....    :stirpot:    :rebel:    :aarg:

I don't know about out there but here in Ohio they don't need a picture of who is driving.  They ticket the owner of the car with a provision for someone else to take responsibility if they were driving your car.  If someone else was driving and they won't admit it then the person the car is registered to is responsible.  Good luck ignoring the ticket but I wouldn't.  This method has held up in courts around the country.

Exactly.  With the one I referenced, the ticket was sent to the company, but the ticket was the responsibility of the driver.  When I attempted to fight the ticket (the video clearly showed the driver wouldn't have been able to stop safely before the light went red), the court required me to fill out the summons naming the driver.  The ticket was then re-sent to him and he fought it (successfully) with my support.  It took almost a year, but we beat it.

Ian, I'm telling you buddy - if you ignore it, you will not be able to register your car or renew your license and your insurance will go up.  If there's a way to fight it, do so - but the court will hold you ultimately responsible.

Greg, thanks for your concern my friend!  :)    If you read my links you will see that the ticket I got is bogus and not a real ticket from the court.  It is a letter from the company in Arizona that runs the cameras.  They send it to the folks who get caught that they can't identify from the info they have from the cars registered owner according to their DL info.  They couldn't see my face, I had the sun visor down.  Another lesson learned, if you think you are going to get nabbed, hide your face.    There is a list of cities that use this tactic.

So they need to identify the perp in hopes of salvaging their chances of getting the $5-600.  They send you the letter and ask you to name the driver.  There are 3 choices.  1.) you   2.) Someone else <please include a copy of their DL and info>  3.)  Sold the car <Please list the name and addy of the new owner so we can send them this same letter>  If you fill this out the person you name will get the ticket.  You just snitched on them or yourself.

This is not a real ticket from the court, only a letter from the company that runs the cameras.  If you ignore it there is nothing they can do about it.  In fact there is not even a due date on the letter and it even says "Do not contact the court"  They will not know what you are talking about.

My hope is this helps someone here save the $5-600 the ticket will cost, and the point on their license that will probably cost $1000 or more over the course of the 3 years.

Here in Australia nobody likes paying a fine when it is only a photo and the cameras have been proven to be inaccurate in several cases. When the monies go straight into general revenue and not into fixing roads or making intersections more safe and the government use it to balance their books it is wrong.
One enterprising person crept up behind a mobile camera car and removed the rear plate and attached it to a similar car and sped many times past that and another camera car then reattached it.   :burnout:
Speed cameras that we have attached to permanent booms across freeways have been found to be faulty because the booms sway slightly which effects the accuracy, they have now built larger more stable booms. A news report today said that they are looking at installing cameras on every road.   :villagers:

george orwell would be so proud :'(

if you cant leave your home without being under constant government surveillance youve effectively turned your home into your prison cell.

the only difference is the fence is a little bit farther away.
