Feb. 17, 1971.  I had to choose between a Burnt Orange 318 4-speed Barracuda with lots of nice options for $4441.00 OR a low-optioned ugly red Hemi Cuda with an automatic :puke: and dog dish hubcaps.
The Hemi was about $400 more as well...........Yeah $400
Guess which one I  bought?

Still have it though!   :bananasmi

1) A friend of my car's original owner liked the Cuda so much he bought a '67 GTX convertible in 1971. A few years later he wanted to sell it to me for $800 with a rebuilt 440 but I wanted a car that was better on gas. They only made about 400 of the convertibles I'm told.

2) Saw an ad for a '63 Country Squire with the NASCAR 427 (side oiler with dual 4-bbl) 4-speed car, supposedly "factory". Went out in my Dad's '67 Continental to check it out with no intent to buy. Turns out the original owner was a friend of one of the Ford family and wanted the 427 to haul horses on his horse farm. Edsel had Ford ship the 427 and swap it for the 406 that came with the car and all the paperwork was corrected. I pulled up, he offered me an even swap. This car was mint mint, only about 24,000 miles. We took it for a ride and it was hardly controllable. He was selling because his wife hated getting into races all the time. I had to pass because the Continental wasn't mine but I ended up with it 2 years later anyway.

Gotta wonder what that car is worth now!!

Late 80's had $5000.00cash and found a #'s matching 4406pk superbird 4spd B5 blue. Was complete and running with minor rust. Wanted $8000.00 for the car and couldnt get a loan from my Dad.  The farmer in him just couldnt understand the car. LOL  Oh well I later bought a 4x4 project  that when finished I traded for freshly restored  70 chall SE that I still have.

Early 80's I bought a Panther Pink 70 Challenger with a 413 in it for $125 (it was a R/T 383 car).
Removed the dash and rear valance to put on my 72 318 Challenger.  :clueless:
Then had it towed to the junkyard to be scraped.

I probably deserve it, that was a major bonehead move.  The car was a complete driver and that 413 would absolutely roast the tires.  Looking back on it, I have no idea what I was thinking.

The 72 was my daily driver that I was fixing up.  So at the time it seemed like the "better" car.
Here's a pic of the 72 (I didn't even know they never came with fog lights), wish I had some pics of the 70.

I'll add insult to injury, I later traded the 72 in on a brand new Hyundai, they gave me $800.   :pullinghair: :pullinghair:
