360 head question
« on: October 24, 2010 - 12:02:47 PM »
for quite some time ive had a freshly bored 77 360 block and nice heads.  it was always my plan to get a donor motor and then build me a motor.  so a few weeks ago i bought a 360 out of an 83 pickup truck.

last week i acquired another 360 this one out of a 79 ramcharger.  the nice thing about it is its a fresh rebuild with about 20k miles on it. the bad part is its got an air pump and all sorts of emissions junk.

is there a way to plug the little holes under the exhaust ports? it doesnt appear the headers i want to run will do a very good job of covering them up

You can put bolts in the holes and then grind or break off the bolt heads.  It would be best to take them to a machine shop and have plugs pressed in.  They will leak with the headers if the holes are left open.

:iagree: That is exactly what I did with the 360 I built for the Dodge van I used to have.

I used brake rivets in my last 360, sealed well, no leaks.
