Later research concluded my engine came from a 71 Challenger in the Bay area. Its believed that car was crushed long ago after the engine was sold.

What does it do to the value of a Hemi car if it doesn't have the original engine? Especially if a Hemi project doesn't have paperwork or a fender tag. Just wondering.

I would guess it would kill a lot of the value as there is no way to verify what it truely is.

Well, it certainly isn't helping.....

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

With no documentation, the investor types are out.

A hobby guy can add a Hemi to the car he already has & be money ahead.

So, this one has appeal to the guy that wants a real hemi VIN on the car for bragging rights. I would be surprised if it sold for 40K myself, but I am not an appraiser & I do not follow actual sales.

All,

Bottom line it is a real Hemi Cuda (Dash VIN plate, cowl stamping and Radiator support stamping), and with several people knowing the car from back in the day, a lot of the options can be verified. I agree collectors are definetly out with no original fender tag etc, but still hunting for that, along with the engine as this is a Bay area car from back in the day, so you never know what might surface.

I just re-clarrified with Scott from Harms Auto who as mentioned earlier actually owned and drove the car back in the late 80's.

I wil lbe honest and let you all know that I am swaying towards keeping the car as of right now, I have had a lot of encouraging emails from people saying that I will regret selling, (as I stated before, when do you get a chance to find a 70 Hemi Cuda project, california car).......

It would be great if there were some pictures of it back in the day when it was racing at baylands. That would certainly help its heritage and authenticity even more so. I do know this is a real R code car.

Good luck on the $90K.  We can lead them to water, but we can't make them drink?!?  :roflsmiley:My U-code 70 Challenger 440 R/T AC convertible project was offered at $50K a month or so ago.  I got one response that just could not afford another project right now, although he said it has all the right stuff.  Therefore, it sets in the back of my shop until someone that knows what it is can afford it.
u cant compare a challenger to a hemi cuda!!! there not even close!!!

It was listed for sale on Craigslist by George the previous owner a couple of year ago for $50k, so your not too far off Barry...

While I certainly can't blame anybody for asking big $$ for their Hemi car, without the NME, you will need some luck with that $90K pricetag...A little phishing never hurt anybody either..

Just because E-Pay Claimed one sold in alot worse shape doesn't mean that this one will sell for more...People make the mistake of using Evil-Bay as a guage for pricing collector cars and it isn't correct.. People get buddies to bid bogus bids to run up their auctions and such..How Do I know this? I know a few "Investor" types that have and do do this very thing knowing people use it as a guage...Same thing with BJ auctions...

I certainly don't blame you for asking what it will take to get you to part with the car, as if someone wants it THAT bad, then by all means, take it with you...
