There isn't a big end to the story, just the story of the adventure, where we went, who we met, etc... I hope to get it written up tonight.

I am hoping that your story ends with someone wanting to sell that blue '70 Challenger, and maybe that Oldsmobile...But that's probably not the case, is it?

Wow! Thanks for sharing.  Can't wait to hear the stories.

P.S.  Send that 69 Road Runner my way.... :poopoke:

Ya mean the 68? ;D haha, kidding

Man, that makes a guy sick. Would love to have some of that iron...lot's of B-bodies (I personally love the later bodystyle Roadrunner/Satellite/Charger bodies) and then the obvious E-bodies. Even the trucks...

I agree...it sucks to see all those great cars sitting there rotting away.

Personally, I would love to get my hands on the corvair in the background of one of the pics...not a muscle car, but could be a fun little crusier!!!!

A couple years ago, there was a kids driving a Challenger during the winter months here in IA.  It was an unrestored driver with great potential and probably from the South or West, as it had limited rust.

Can't decide which is worse, driving one in the salt, or letting it sit and rot.

A kid that use to work for us had his truck repo-ed, so all he had was a 70 Chevelle he had restored in high school to drive.  By the end of winter, it was popping rust bubbles again.

Shameful.

I agree it is sad seeing all the cars rotting. I know over by us this lady has a 340 1970 Cuda sitting behind her house. It has been sitting for as long as I can remember. In fact before I could drive when my family would go on the highway I remember seeing that car off the highway. After a few year it was gone but a couple of years ago I spotted it on the next street. The lady had moved and it is still sitting to this day. I wrote down the ladies address and looked her name up online and got her phone number. I called and talked to her about a year ago and she is a very nice lady and found out she is the original owner of the car and does not want to sell it. I tried to call her the other day and she was not home but her son was and he hung up on me. Maybe he will get the car after she is gone and does not want his mother talking to anyone. I will get back with her again when he is not there. I am going to let her know we would give it a good home if she ever wants to sell it. From the road it looks like a solid body and is all there. The best thing you can do is let these people know you are interested and keep in touch because you never know when someone decides they are ready to sell.  Years ago there was a 1971 440-6bbl Orange Cuda sitting behind a house covered up. Everyone in our area knew about the car and tried to buy it from the guy. He would not budge on selling it. He really thought he was going to restore it some day. Well to make a long story short he wound up getting a divorce and sold it to pay for his divorce. One of our friends just happen to go by there and offer to buy it and the guy sold it to him. It is restored now and turned out very nice. It cost the guy a ton to restore it because the top was toast from sitting under a tarp for so many years. It was numbers matching with all the paper work.  Cars are still out there waiting to be bought and restored.

My picks of all those would be any of the `71 B-bodies,the cuda in the barn and the Travco motor home as long as it`s a big block.  :2thumbs:
