Challenger Convertible Measurement Help
« on: October 27, 2010 - 03:47:21 PM »
Hello,

I am in the middle of some major restoration work to clean-up my custom convertible.  I am replacing the rear convertible top boot molding that the boot snaps down to.  Since I am using NOS '71 Challenger parts, I could use some help from someone with a '71 Challenger convertible to take 3 measurements for me to help me place my molding in the correct spot.  I need help measuring at dead center from the top edge start of the trunk to the start of the top trim molding (see the photo below).  I would also appreciate the left and right measurements of the same area where the top boot molding strip overlaps (the boot molding is 3 seperate pieces).  We believe that with these 3 measurements from a true '71 convertible, we should be in good shape for our placement.

Thank you for your help!

My 70 challenger measures 4 1/8 in the center and 5 1/2 were the two peaces lap over each other.
I would think a 71 should be the same IMO.  :dunno:

Thank you very much and I'll take any measurements I can get at this point.  I would think the '71 is the same too.  I know my top frame is from a '71 but I think the boot trim molding would be the same on both years.

I just checked mine. I got the same measurement as Dodgeboy in the middle @ 4-1/8". I got a little different measurement where the moulding overlap though. I got 4-5/8". I wouldn't of believed they were different. Oh well, it is what it is.

Thanks guys!  These measurements are extremely helpful, as I sure don't want to regret any cuts or welding.  :grinyes:
