Yet another what are these question: 70 Challenger SE
« on: October 24, 2010 - 10:27:42 PM »
 :clueless:

While replacing the drivers side door jamb switch, I found two parts in the rocker panel once I took the rear seat and interior panel out.  I was hoping for some info on this.

One part is a piece of wiring harness that got clipped off and left behind.  It has some numbers on a tag, but I couldn't find anything that looked similar in the shop manual schematic.  The wire colors are green to a female spade connector and black with a green tracer to a shrouded male spade connector.  I'm looking for any info on what this connects to.  The numbered tag is:

2889614
 26243

The other part appear to be a lens from some sort of accessory or convenience light.  Is there a light that should illuminate the ash tray?  I haven't been able to look at the passengers side yet since the window crank screw socket has been stripped.

is your car an SE ?
the cover is for the door ajar switch at the rear of the door , the wiring is not for that as it only has a single wire to it but the green & black are probably a speaker connector .
you don't have the pin switch for the rear door do you , I need one badly ?

Thanks. I bet you are right on both accounts.  I'll check the speakers and see if they are hooked up.  The radio doesn't work at the moment, so I haven't had a chance to try out the speakers.  And the the plastic part is about the right size for the door switch.

The one I used was a part from Rock Auto, PN 1S1016.  But I had to fashion an adapter terminal to connect up to it.  If you buy that part, let me know, I'll make one up for you and mail it off.  The only other problem I had was that these are supposed to be "self adjusting" when you close the door, it bottoms out and slides the barrel to the proper location.  The switch wasn't perfectly perpendicular and the barrel buckled when I closed the door, which prevented it from sliding, resulting in a ding in the mating door surface.  I wised up on the replacement part and used the drill press to press it to the proper depth before installing it.  I took a measurement off the good side.

Good luck and thanks for the feedback.
