i've done chops with the lid black and while it looks badass (just look at will's) i prefer the punch of orange.

here's another version of the all orange, with msd and black leads (which i can't afford right now, but want)

cheers!

here's an image of the options i'm thinking about.

photoshop is a great tool for this sort of thing, but you can get carried away, the options are potentially endless...

Not feelin' that one  :2cents:

:iagree: I'm with Goody.  Not feelin' that at all.  Too dark, not enough pop.  :-X

The engine stand chops are interesting as an exercise, but they don't give you a feel of what the engine will look like in the car.  I'm still with the orange block and black valve covers.

The best looking engine compartment I've ever seen was on the "Hammer".  You remember the 70 Satelite they built on the show Rides.  They have since installed a Hemi and goofy hockey stripes on the car but when they origonally built it, the car was powered by a big block wedge.  The engine was all black with black anodised fittings and a few hints of stainless/aluminium.

I can see you wanting some orange in there.  That still looks good.  I like A the best followed by B.

here's the best image i could find of the hammer's engine bay:

tough look. this is very much the kind of thing i like.

decisions decisions!

i agree the black motor doesn't have the same pop as the orange when comparing images, but in real life it would be badass.
now that the all orange seems like a hard look to achieve after having tested it out spraying my motor, i think the black block is winning...

i'm sure everyone is well past caring, just like all my friends and workmates, but here's my latest thoughts on my engine bay scheme!

typical, this is pretty much exactly what i originally wanted, i've come full circle.

i quite like this too, and it would be any easy swap to do from time to time:

cheers!

My favorites are the orange block and aluminum / silver intake manifold.  Can't make up my mind whether I like the black or orange valve covers best, as both look so good!

Geez, all I can say is that I had already decided on the Barracuda's & Roadrunner's engine 'Look', but thanks to you sharing all these options I don't have a clue anymore!  I think my favorite is your later "All orange with MSD & black leads".  That has me seriously considering an all orange look for the Roadrunner's six pack engine.  Are you going with black headers and if so whose?  I know Hooker offers their Comp headers in black, but as far as I can find not their Super Comps.  I would like to go with black myself, since part of my intended looks is 'as it could have been in the mid 70's which is when I originally bought the car.  Not many cars running around with silver coated headers back then and I think the black coated will look like the old black painted headers do.

TTI do black ceramic coating now.
mancini sell them.

i love the all orange the most too. would look awesome!
but after having painted my engine and done some mockups, i think it might be too much work.
i'd want to anodize my pulleys black, and paint all the bolt heads etc etc, and i'd never get the car done... or be able to afford it.
i just want to thrash the car over summer, so the black and alloy is easiest. just bolt stuff on and go. and it still looks great. i hope.
ha ha ha

glad i can help make someone else's choice difficult! ha ha

here's some more orange inspiration:

cheers!
