Some info if you do the swap meet thing
« on: October 25, 2010 - 04:35:25 PM »
To anyone that might do the swap meet thing, buyers or sellers.Last year some of you might remember that me and some friends went to a swap meet last fall and got some $100 bills that ended up being counterfeit. To make a long story short we got some help from the police that night and they nabbed the guy the next morning and he was made to pay with good bills that he had.We were lucky for sure most are not.
I just found out that this year another friend at the same swap meet but this years, got some bad bills passed on to him.A piece of advice,go buy a pen to check the bills with and any big bills you should check serial #s water marks and such.I have heard of people bleaching smaller bills and printing larger bills on good scanner printers. If they do this, the pen will show it as a good bill, because that just checks the paper. There are thieves everywhere so be careful.

 :iagree:

If he had more than 1 fake $100 bill, he knew.  Chances of someone getting more than 1 fake $100 dollar bill in changes is very slim.  I handle cash alot, and you can teach your self what to look for.  Some people are taking $1 bill and bleaching they and then printing $100 dollar bills, and if you use the pen it will say it is a real bill.

I hate thieves.  I don't kow that I agree with all the hand chopping off that goes on in some parts of the world but I bet it does cut down on sticky fingers (pun intended?)....
