This is why I consider these cars toys to be used occasionally, and only in good weather.  No ABS, no traction control, no air bags.

My wife's aunt sold a 1970 Challenger to someone, and that person was killed in it driving on an icy road in Connecticut.

I also used to date a woman that had to be extricated from a 1970 shaker 340 Cuda.  The car was trashed but she got to keep the scars and what was left of the shaker.

The car was totaled. No, I wasn't wearing a seat belt. I'd be dead. The steering wheel drove into me. I had a lot of internal bleeding. Can you imagine if I would have had that metal buckle of the seat belt on.  :scared:

One more time I'm glad you are OK . That said I remember my room mate when I was in the service . He's the one that converted me to Mopar . He was telling me that in the late 60's lots of folks driving mussel cars hitting things at well over 100 miles per hour . Those cases are what lead to the shoulder strap , crush can in front of the steering and the break away window crank knobs . Even though the seat belt might have made things worst in your case I have to think most of the time they help more then they hurt . As a young man (many years ago), one time my aunt was in a accident . A week or so later at the state fair they were putting on a show telling you all the injuries you would get not wearing a seat belt , my aunt had them all . I have been a believer ever since .
