AM/FM Radio Volume Issues
« on: December 06, 2010 - 10:15:11 PM »
My AM/FM original radio works - but the volume is very low unless the engine is rev'd up.....   AM comes in quite good - FM is spotty....    Any ideas?

Thanks

If I recall correctly FM is more sensitive to antenna ground.

Could be a voltage problem.  Maybe the tiny amp needs more power. You could run a jump wire dirrectly to the battery to see if the problem goes away.  It is odd.

Make sure the speaker wire connectors are on tight and the wires are not frayed or grounding out against each other.

Lightly spraying some WD-40 into the volume control stem can clear up a lot of issues with static when rotating the knob.

Check your antenna wire plug going into the radio for a solid fit.
