383 w/ bell and 4 spd
« on: December 14, 2010 - 05:02:28 PM »
My wife's friend from H.S. is a machinist for a Baja race truck team here in San Diego. The Team owner had a Satellite built with a Hemi and took out the 383 4 speed that was in it.

The low down. It smoked and used oil when taken out but was driveable. Said it needed rings.
Don't know what year it is but if anyone ca   n tell me where to look on the block, I'd appreciate it.
All I have seen is a cell phone pic but it looks like an oem intake manifold.
Has long tube headers, fits E/B body since it was a Satellite.
Tranny is separated from engine but bellhousing is still attached.

There is a Challenger project I'm thinking about getting and this would go great in it.
They are asking 500 but they are really wanting it gone and it's been in the shop too long. Thinking about really low balling them because I have no idea about the condition or history and would have to rebuild the engine, tranny, get a new clutch....

Get the vin on the bottom side of the engine on the passengers side.
Right where the oil pan meets the block.  On a two inch by half inch flat boss.

What do 4 speeds and bellhousings go for if I don't end up using this powertrain?

Anywhere from 200 to 1000.  Just depends on who is selling.
