Battery to Body ground attachment location?
« on: November 21, 2010 - 10:44:10 PM »
Where does the battery ground wire attach to the body.  I know that the main ground is to the engine, usually bolted to the front of the block but my question is where does the smaller wire attach to the body?  Pictures would help.  Mine was attached to the radiator yoke, at the top near the battery but I'm sure that is not correct. OK, thanks!  I was looking at engine bay pictures and many show the wire disappearing down below somewhere and nothing attached to the yoke.  Maybe it depends on the year, model, engine, or whatever.  I do recall that your car is a 73 or with a 360 while mine is a 70 so maybe the location depends on something else.  Your car and my car makes two; are there any others with a top of radiator yoke ground location?  PK

Thanks, That is where I was thinking of attaching it.  I didn't like it being on top of the yoke like it was.  My car had been changed in many ways so I'm never sure what is correct.  I'm planning to do the headlight relay thing to get away from some of the electrical gremlins prevelant in some of our cars.  I already ran my alternator wire directly to the starter solonoid and bypassed the ammeter. Mine's a 71.  To clarify, mine's on the same bolt as the headlight ground as Chryco said.

When you said "top of yoke near the battery", I didn't think you actually meant "on top", just in the upper portion.

Remember the engine pass. side rear to firewall ground wire as well. Not sure if it was there on all years...
