I think ultimately removing them to gain access to the mechanism will be necessary.
I cleaned then lubed mine with silicone spray, that fixed all but one. That one I had to tweak the spring metal that holds tension but it finally started behaving.

i was hoping there was another way any ideas how the back seat comes out to get to them?

the bottom is held in with 2 clips (maybe someone has a picture of this?) you have to press down hard on the bottom of the back seat and then try to slide it back. You will know when it is out. And then i believe that there are only 2 or 3 screws that hold the top of the back seat on (once you get the bottom out)

This is the best pic I have.  The clip is on the left side of the picture.  Like what was said above, you have to push down and then back for it to reliece.  There are two bolts holding the seat back in place.

Try taking a tool like a garden weeder and sliding it under the seat and through the middle of that clip that holds the seat. Try to push the metal loop of the seat back enough so it can move upward out of the clip. You might also want a lever of some sort to lift the seat up when the loop is back enough to clear the clip.  Good luck.

To remove the back seat bottom I do what I saw my Dad do back in the 60's....
One side at a time sit on the seat, grasp the front edge & extend your legs pushing straight back. The seat will slide back a bit, at that moment raise your butt along with the front edge & the seat is free of the hook/clip (whatever you want to call it) slide it forward a bit to remove after both sides are free.
This has worked on every car I've ever tried it on.
