    ok so im new here with a new to me 73 rally challenger with a 340, 727 and 4.10 or 4.11 gears. im at 3000 rpm around 55-60. anyone else feel my pain? its fun to drive with a manual valve body and slap stick, but i live by I5 and would like to go 70-75. what is the max rpm to turn a 340 crusin down the hwy?

    I'm running 4.10's in my car with a 27 inch tall tire 1900 rpm at 70 mph... :bigshades:
















    Oh ya I have a .5 6th gear  :roflsmiley:

    4.10 gears and 26.5" tall tire; runs about 2700 rpm in 1:1 gear in trans at 65 mph.

    I ran a 4.10 in the Roadrunner for several years back in the 70's and it was no fun whatsoever on the highway.  I stayed in the right lane as Pintos and Vegas flew by on the left!  I'm going back to a 4.10 during this rebuild, but will definitely have some kind of overdrive.  NO way I'm going back to screaming down the road in the slow lane..

    Dream setup would be a Viper-spec six speed and 2.71 gears. Killer launch with that low first gear, and 200+ in sixth, with no effort.

    My 4:10s cruise at 75 at abour 3200 rpm....with a 33" tall tire in my truck.
