Honking window
« on: December 05, 2010 - 12:32:08 AM »
So whats the trick in stopping the annoying "honking" noise when you roll down a window?

I replaced the whiskers on my old door panels a while back and the drivers window would make an ungodyly honking/squeaking noise when rolling it down.

Replaced the door panels with the new Metro ones and I still have the noise.

Its sort of embarassing...LOL

I have tried silicone and rainex on the glass.....

You have two choices.

1. Remove the goose from the inside of your door.

2. Stop rolling the window down & squishing it.

:roflsmiley:   I think it's in your regulator and not the glass rubbing on anything. You'll have to pull the door panel and grease everything that moves. especially check the teflon wheel thingy on the arm that keeps the window level (slides in a channel). Sometimes the wheel quits turning and wears a flat spot on it. Ask me how I know!

These guys might be right.  Try taking off the door panel and see if the noise is still there.

And if this doesn't work, at least you have easy access to the goose.  :roflsmiley:
If I cant fix it, it's broke

It would make a great Christmas dinner.

Honking window   :roflsmiley:  That reminds me of when i wired my dads light switch on his pickup (76 chev) to the horn. He got caught in town one evening and drove all the way home with the horn on.    :smilielol:
