833 strength

I looked and didn't see an answer anywhere, but what kind of power can a 23 spline 833 hold up to?  the one I have is out of a ta or aar and is freshly rebuilt.  Thinking about my engine options and just not sure.
Any Thoughts or ideas would be great. Thanks

they will hold 600 hp pretty good. Tq and heavy cars with slicks and hwy gears will wear them down, but you will have to give it a lot of abuse to do any damage to an 833

All I can tell you is what I've witnessed and done myself...I've seen a 440 PUNISH an A833 4 gear to the tune of Upshifts without the use of the clutch. I've seen numerous 5000 RPM Clutch dumps...I myself, have beat the hell outta one and never hurt it...I'm not saying he's Ronnie Sox or anything, but I've ridden with my brother when he's "had a few" and brutally tortured an A833 with a BB Chrysler 440...

I've seen only ONE failure to this day and the driver KNEW full and well about it too.. The front bearing was going bad and he skinned the input shaft. Other than that, I've seen 833's take (for lack of a better term), "Abuse"...ALL of these were 23 Spline units as well. Nobody round here anyways, has the money for the 18 Spline stuff..

That 833 out of an T/A or AAR is the good close ratio box too.

I can tell you from personal experience they are brutally strong
 I had the "weak" 833 OD in my Duster as I was running 4.30 gears & did not have a trailer, it had the Alum case & I dropped the clutch @ 5500 RPM for 9 seasons ,lifting the wheels 2' off the ground running ladderbars & slicks , I broke 3 - 8 3/4 sure grips . Later I installed the same engine & trans into my Tube Chassis Cuda & with 14 x 32 " slicks & a bigger more agressive clutch & on the first clutch drop at only 3200 rpm I ripped 37 teeth off the ring gear & all the teeth off the pinion gear , the trans was undamaged & I checked it over & reused it in another project

This info is really good to know  I was wondering how much that box could stand up. Im going to be punishing my 833 real hard
