Seat backs for buckets
« on: December 17, 2010 - 10:03:11 PM »
I'm getting ready to order the seat backs for my Bee since it is about the only thing left on this project.

My Bee's buckets look identical to the Challenger I just bought (Won't be delivered for another day so I can't be certine of this) yet when I check various vendors, they all show Ebody and Bbody as different. Furthermore, some actually show the 70 buckets as fairly short and wide which they aren't.

I was gonna order from year one since they are the cheapest. That's a rarity let me tell you but I'm sure they will murder me in shipping and handling which should even things out.

The problem I am having is the year one pic for this product is a tiny circle blow up to show the grain of the plastic rather than an overall view. I called them directly but the sales person had no real knowledge of their products.

Does anyone know if the Bbody buckets use the same seat backs as the Ebody?

Has anyone ever ordered the Bbody backs from year one and were they correct?

I know there is a type with molded hinges and without (mine is without)

Any info would help. I just want to avoid getting them and having to return them if they are wrong.

Forgot to mention...this is the description which really throws me off:

"Front bucket seat backs for 1970-mid 1971 A, B, E-body models with a build date of 12/1/70"

That is the only description for this item. Correct me if I'm wrong but any car built after 12/01/1970 would actually be a 71 and not for the 70 at all. Or is it that they are saying a build date no later than 12/01/70.

That might make more sense but I am not sure when the seat backs started having molded in hinges.

Legendary lists the 71 the same seat back for e&b ...what year your car is will be important but sounds like a '71 based on the date 12/01/70

I probably sounded confused. My car is a 70 and has a build date of June 1970 but the listing at year one is what I was confused over. I am thinking they may work just wasn't sure.

By the way, I checked on shipping and Year one wants to charge me 50 bucks. Jeez...I've shipped iron intake manifolds cross country for way less. I guess thats where they get the extra dough to build all these super high dollar project cars of theirs.

Appreciate the link. I checked the site and it illustrates my problem. The picture shows that these backs have molded in hinge covers which my car does not. Other than that, they appear correct. Depending on manufacturer, some show the 70 version with hinge covers molded in and some do not.

I think what I will do is wait until the next big car show in April. Lots of vendors show up and I will call them in advance and ask them to bring a set for me to examine before purchase. It's the only way I can be sure of getting the correct ones.

Thanks for taking the time to look it up though. Mopar folks always seem to look out for one another.

I got one new seat back from year one still in the plastic.  When I get home tonight, I will take a picture of it for you. It was for 70 e body and fits 70 road runner. Mine is white.  But you will have a part number and discription

That would be fantastic! Depending on whether your new part has the molded in hinge covers, I should be able to find it in their catalog and work back from there. Having your part number will allow me to do that easily.

By the way, you said you had one. Did you buy it separate from Year One? I was under the impression from their listing that they sold in pairs.

Is it a nicely redone part that looks and fits well? Their price is considerably less than others so I was concerned it might not be as nice.

Their price shows $159.00 and I thought it was for the pair. That's a really good price for a pair so I'm willing to eat the shipping if I know for sure it's the right parts. I think they still have the "HSOP" 20% discount I think so that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
