More Made in China crap!!
« on: December 16, 2010 - 05:20:00 PM »
So I buy two rear wheel cylinders from the local auto parts and they are a brand name Raybestos.I get them home and notice they look different, one is made in USA and one is made in China.Just by looking at them I can tell the USA part is better quality but since it`s for a winter bomber I figurte it`ll be OK.I take one and go to fit it into the backing plate and it won`t seat all the way-guess which one!! Ding!Ding!Ding1 the China crap!!  :villagers: I take it back tonight and hope to replace it with another one but the rest in stock are made in China also.NE1 know if any of these parts are made in the US still?I must of got lucky finding the one.  :pullinghair:Oh and I just send a nice e-mail to Raybestos informing them I will not buy any of there parts made overseas again-we`ll see if they respond.

Ya,I already checked NAPA online and I`ll stop by tommorow. The good one I have looks exactly like that so I think they are just left overs and when they`re gone all you will be able to get is the Chinese crap.

Napa United and Raybestos come from the same company!  I was an engineer there, tossed out the door in 2005 when they got bought out by an investment group and renamed "Affinia Brake and Chassis", and shortly after that they started closing down all the plants in the US and Canada, tossing thousands of my former colleagues out in the street.  The last US plant was closed earlier this year. :'(
So they source all their crap from China now, just like Wagner. :eek4:
I don't know what to tell you, you did find one "old stock" wheel cylinder and there are more out there if you beat the bushes.
Sad thing about that last plant was they made what they called "ends" there, small usage items it didn't pay to try tool up or source from China, which means a lot of brake parts for older applications won't be available for long, we'll wish there were some Chinese ones on the market soon! :swear:

I've been having a heck of a time with calipers as well. The third one finally worked. Consumers need to organize and demand better
