Update Project Bring 70 Challenger Back to the Future

I told my wife if I wait till I have the money, the car will never be started on much less built. Kinda like waiting to have a baby until you can afford one. I have estimated the cost of the build and whoa the wife is not happy with the number. Did you take any pics of the Charger seat installed? I was going to the same thing taking the drivers seat out of my wifes 06 Charger R/T w/R/T pkg (really like the seats). I'm 6'4" and what you are saying is troublesome to me. 

Regarding the seats, there's actually a thread from a while back with contributions from people using custom/non-original seats. Would be a good place to start before you make a blind purchase.

Never tell the wife how much auto parts and restoration really costs!! I saw the tee-shirt saying that at the last gun-show I went to.  If I would have told my wife Im almost 30,000 , (total car to parts) into mine and have a ways to go 5 yrs ago she would have never let it get near the house.

Rule of 3's mate. Take the actual number and divide by 3 - that's the number you tell them.

  I just read this to my wife and she raised her eyebrows and nodded her head without saying a word?
 
Don't let them kid you though, the money she has wrapped up in high end sewing/quilting machines, ,stamping/card making stuff, small kitchen appliances,and other things.... I'm not feeling guilty one bit!
At least mine is worth something if I ever needed to sell it. I gotta say though my wife has been pretty good about me buying parts for the car. It was just the initial car purchase that just about cooked my goose. ...... but then again...she doesn't ask and I don't tell either.

My wife is the same way.  She has her toys for sure.  Something weird happened the other day.  My wife and I where out with friends and my buddy asked something about my car.  My wife blurted out the correct answer as if she might have actually been paying attention to what I have been doing with the car.  It caught me off guard just a bit.  Them chicks are sneeky.

Update. Making progress on the teardown. Finally got the trim off of the back window and windshield. Found rust at the base of the windshield that will have to be addressed. the rear did not look bad to me. also found the top of the left inner fender is not secure to the cowl see video. I do not know if it came from the factory that way or not. Any input?

It was built on a late Friday?

According to the fender tag decoder I used the build date was 9/24/1969 a Wednesday (Hump Day)

Well I have made some more progress on the car and thought I would share some pics. I have to thank a good freiend for helping out yesterday with glass and dash removal. Getting real close to being able to send the car out for media blasting. I did not realize how light the shell is. I can lift either end off the ground lol.

Hello All.

Now that work is slowing down I was able to take a day off. I loaded the Challenger and took it to Jackson MS. to a company called Metal Finishing Services. There it will be dipped and derusted and finally E-coated. Here are a few pics.








Also while there took a some pics of a Cuda Vert with smoothed firwall and inner fenders. The work looked great!









I found out the guy that did the work on the convertible is located about 30 miles south of Jackson Ms. I am going to get in contact with him. I am seriously considering having him do the rust repair on my car before the the E-coat is done.

It will be sometime in January or Febuary before I get the car back. I will now be able to park in the garage myself for at least 2 1/2 months lol.
