ballest resistor overheating

Installed engine wire harness then installed ecu box and wires.When the light blue wire with white tracer from ecu  is hooked up to ballest and ign key is on  starts to fry the ballest.I dont know what to look for any thoughs on where to look?All the other electrical seems to be working.

It's common for the ballast resistor to heat up, especially with just the key on. Mine even smoked a little.

So are you saying hook it on the firewall leave it? Yes it smokes and gets so hot you cant touch it.Only when light blue wire from ecu is hooked to ballest and ign is on.
