    Here's the problem with buying parts and stockpiling them.. sometimes, they don't always match up...

    I've had this cuda addiction for about 6 years now, and during the complete reconstruction of it, I would buy parts at shows, and store them away for better days..

    I bought my chrome tips a few years ago.. they are 2" dia.

    I bought my tti exhaust system.. it's at 2.5" dia.

    Do i
    ·try to expand the tips to 2.5
    ·weld a reducer to the tips
    ·buy new tips... please say no..
    ·something else?

    I have the exact same story!  Sorry, I'm not offering an answer, just wanting one.  I need to dig out my tips and see if I can expand them.  Will watch with baited breath! :clueless: PK

    if you do that, you might as well use a 2"exhaust system...
    I`d cut off the 2"pipe and weld a 2.5"on  :2cents:

    would the reduction in size at the end of the system have that big of effect on the overall performace?

    If anything, I would buy the new tips, over the whole system, but would prefer to make this work...unless an issue you could think of would come up that would really be detrimental to the car...

    if that makes any sense..

    I believe you will be fine , the restriction is only 2" long , I read in an exhaust engineering book that reducing the pipes at the rear as the air cools can help performance & reduce drone , you could expand them to slide inside the 2.5 " pipe or worst case use an adapter

    after speaking with a knowledgable mopar guy, another facter he proposed would be that cuda's exhaust comes in at an angle and the modifications that i mentioned would throw off how the tips come through the valance.Unlike the challenger which goes straight in... true?

    I think right now, I might buck up and get the new tips from TTI and sell the 2" ones...any buyers?

    who knows, my opinion might change again in an hour... :clueless:

    If you purchased ones made of stainless steel then forget the expanding idea. It will break in the expander. Mine were 2-1/2" from PG Classics and needed a tiny bit more expansion to fit the 2-1/2" pipe and the guy who did them said it was touch and go. You will not get 1/2" more from them.

    I'm in the same boat with my Challenger tips.  You can get a 2-2.5" adapter for cheap.
    I have a 2" system now and will be eventually upgrading to the TTI sysytem.
    I went ahead and bought some tips that are 2.5".  I'd look around you can do much better than TTI on price.
    They wanted $400 for the Challenger tips, I got some for $150.

    Make sure you get the right size, some are OD and others are ID.

    Here is how I plan to "expand" my 2" tips.  Use either a 3x2.5" adapter or a piece of 2.5" pipe and squeeze it in a vice to a rectangular or oval shape.  Place it over the 2" extension and mark where it makes contact.  Cut out the 2" extension and weld in the rectangular end, making sure to have the correct overall length.   PK

    Those look like the factory sheet metal tips, not SS?

    I thought about doing something similiar, but unless you can weld it yourself it's a lot of work to go through.

    Sell the 2" and get the 2.5" done right.

    Unfortunately that looks like the route i am going to go..again.. the angle of the cuda's tip worry me...

    any body want to buy my 2in tips?
