Engine stand
« on: January 08, 2011 - 12:30:45 PM »
what it the safest place to bolt the engine on a stand ?   I would use 4 holes used for the bellhousing bolts (they should be 3/8 16).  It's right ?

Yes.  Try to center it for the best balance possible.  Remember, you'll be puttings back on, so compensate for them.

Be carefull with the mounts too. I have a small block and big  block that have had one of the lower bolt ears broken off. A lot of weight gets put on these ears once you start adding parts and spinning it around. I usually put a piece of wood between the front of the crank and the front of the stand so the engine doesn't "bounce" while I'm rolling the stand around the garage.
