Lower control arm question.
« on: January 16, 2011 - 11:57:01 PM »
Hey Guys!
I just finished putting my front suspension back on. Everything is greased so that I don't have mice running around under my car. Before I lower the car, How far should I turn the adjustment bolt in the lower control arms before I slide in the torsion bars? This is not for the final adjustment. The car is headed to the body shop for final assembly & paint. I just don't want to leave it too loose. Any help would be appreciated.

those bolts need to be backed completely off when installing the torsion bars (because they need to be completely backed off to REMOVE them too...)

Also, you may need to loosen the LCA pivot nut to give the LCA some wiggle to get the T-bar in.  I always have had to in order to get them out.

Yup, in order to install the bars they adjusters need to be completely backed off, and the LCA as far down as it will go.

Now, once the bars are installed, the clips in, etc, you should put at least a few complete turns on the adjusters. But this depends on the size of the torsion bars too, the bigger the bar the fewer turns it will need. And since this is just going to the body shop, and I assume without an engine, its not going to matter much other than to put a little tension on the adjuster bolts. I'd set them in maybe about a 1/3 of the way in, without an engine the car will sit nose high anyway.
