Too rich for my blood.  I know they have some nice deals on stuff that doesn't go across the floor but I can only thing from Barrett-Jackson I can afford are the little 1/64 scale cars from Toys R Us!  :roflsmiley:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Lookin' around is half the fun IMO. The wife and I have made a day out of MEACUM a couple of times.  But some of her friends just dont get it..  :grinno:

I think it would be a great car show anyway, even if you don't show up with any money. I have all my munchies and pop ready for the T.V. show on Sunday (Along with the football games).

:iagree:  If I was around at the time I would definitely like to go and have a look but even the scale models there would be over priced, have to go to Walmart or Toys R Us instead.

I used to watch it from the show opening to the end but not any longer. Since they started this cut to commercial when ever a Mopar muscle car comes up I quit watching. I'll check in once in a while if there is nothing else on TV but I'm not the follower I used to be. The funny thing is in the reruns they have on speed they will show the Mopars as they come up. Just not during the live broadcast.

What is the deal with that? Is it because Ford and Chevy sponsor it? Now I just record it and fast forward to what I want to see, oh and stop on the Camaros for the wife

that is incredibly aggravating when you see a real nice car youre interested in just about to come up, and wham, commercial break, then when you come back its being wheeled off and the 55 studabaker comes up :bricks1:
I prefer Mecum and tivo to watch an 8 hour auction in 90 minutes.

Thanks to my job I was able to attend last year. My coworker/friend, went on the Thursday.  We were at Luke AFB developing future courses for the 607 ACS to instruct at their ground radar school.  We planned on being at work all day and going to BJ around 4PM.  With the Mopar Gods smiling, our Commander came for a visit - the 607th leadership asked us to leave so they could do final preparations.  We were at BJ around 10AM.  What a day!

For first timers, following the signs to park places you in a dessert field with free bus transportation to the event.  Try to remember where you parked - lessons learned there.  Admission was very reasonable (I don't remember actual cost).  We both purchased the catalog, I think it was $15, well worth it.

You enter into the automobilia tent area which is huge.  We did the tent thing and then found the covered area with the "Saturday's Car."  I used our two Kodak one-time cameras on the Mopars.  Unfortunately, all the pics came out too dark to post.  The cars were awesome, and behind a rope so they won't be touched.

Outside, there's several open air tents with "normal" cars.  Back on the hill, finally, beer. Oh, and other vendors and the Fast Lap (where you take a lap with a driver as the car goes fast around a curver track).

In the actual auction hall, as seen on TV, is rather loud and hot.  It was actually nicer sitting outside with a beer and watching the big screen TV where you can hear the commentary like at home.

We left around 8PM - my feet couldn't take anymore.  I tried convince my boss that we needed to go back to the 607th and do more training requirements research.  Even though he's a car guy, we just couldn't justify.

Bottom line: If you have the opportunity do it.

BTW - Starting Tuesday, My TV will be on Speed Channel

Some friends of mine are going. They have a booth at the Russo-Steele auction. They will be selling paintings and prints. Another buddy, Aaron Grote, will be on stage Saturday night because a car he built will be going across the block during primetime. You may have seen it on the cover of MCG after the playboy show a few months ago. It is the Ed Roth looking bubble top car with a hemi in it. He named it the Atomic Punk. First time I'll see a car go across that I actually know the car and it is from my area of the country.

A buddy and I went in 08 + 09 and it IS worth the effort. There are endless tents outside the big sale tent with everything under the sun, in great condition. If you want a deal, go early in the week when they run the lower value cars. Saturday is the big day and $60 admin fee, but I got to see, talk to and rub chests with Linda Vaughn (Miss Golden Hurst) for the laddies, stand beside Alice Cooper and Goldberg as they sold their cars. George Barris drove in with Courtney Hanson (wow) in the Monkeymobile and on and on! Scottsdale is a beautiful city, make sure if you go to hit the Greasewood Cantina and the Dirty Dog Saloon where the hotties who sling the beer also dance on the bar- a smokin' joint all night long. Cheers!
