Which cover for 70 Challenger?
« on: January 22, 2011 - 08:35:32 PM »
I have two rallyes on the car and tow steel wheels. All are 14"

Since I dont have fender tag or build sheet, I have no idea how car was built.

What was more popular for 70 Challenger R/Ts to have been built with? Since I don't know for sure what it once had, I will put the wheels on which it most likely came with.

If the answer is hub cab versus rallyes, can some post some pics of the typical wheel covers offered that year? Big show coming up and if I see what I need at the right price, I'd like to get em.

Thanks a bunch

Mike

personally I would just use the wheels you like the best , they could have had ralleys , magnums or steel with hub caps

I found some pics so I'm good on that. I think I prefer the plain jane standard hub caps on the 14" wheels. It seems like everyone puts on rallyes or magnum style wheels so this should make it stand apart from the crowd a bit.

The car seems original so there are a couple things I am fairly sure about. The car is an R/T 383 4 speed car in Go Mango with a blk vinyl top, built in August 1969. It has bucket seats but no center console. It has a sure grip but I found no tag for gearing so until I chk further, I will assume 3.23. It has no power brakes and no power steering. About the only option I found was it had a chrome remote driver mirror (If being remote is actually an option and not standard)

Given all that I know, it seems this car was ordered basically as a stripped down go fast car on a budget. So, perhaps the car had standard hub caps to go with the rest of the spartan features.
