Reproduction power steering cooler?
« on: December 31, 2010 - 09:04:30 PM »
Hi there,

Does anyone know whether there is a reproduction power steering cooler being made.  I have scoured the local bone yards but there is nothing there.  Need one for a 70 Cuda BB.

Thanks.

I scored a p/s pump off a Diplomat cop car and it has the cooler on it. I'm not sure if one of those would work for you or not. That's what I plan on installing on my car.

Last post from me. Says for Saginaw pumps.  Need to get re-educated on how to ID which pump.

Saw the first two on EBay, but the last one at Mega Parts has potential.  Nice to have an original but I prefer new when dealing with stuff under the hood.  Thanks.

The Saginaw cooler has a very short bracket to attach to the power steering punp.
The Federal pump has a long J Shaped bracket attaching to the pump.

Federal steering coolers are getting quite scare and command a higher price.  They were normally found on Trac Pac optioned Mopars.

My pump is a Federal with a seven inch spoked pulley.  Does someone have a picture of a cooler for the Federal pump, especially of the bracket that bolts to the cooler or a part number.

Appreciate it.

Glen-Ray Radiators introduced their repro bb coolers back in late 2008. I spoke to Bob at Glen-Ray today, great guy, friendly, and willing to help in any way. He informed me the bb cooler is $319.50

 - sounds as if you have the rest of the necessary pieces.

My Challenger came coded for the A36 Performance axle package; i'll get some pics posted later today

My slightly educated guess is that the two sets of numbers, 319 and 379, refer to week 31 and week 37 of 1969 respectively :dunno:

Just found this pic of a Federal pump in my files I forgot about.
This one has brackets to mount to a small block.
