control knob side mirror
« on: January 25, 2011 - 05:00:49 PM »
can somebody show me how the remotecontrol is supposed to bolt to the door?  I have the Control, a large chrome nut that goes on and a square metal plate. Where goes the plate and how does it clamp the joystick to the door?

tnx

The square metal plate will be on the inside (not seen) side of the door panel threaded onto the joystick threads. You push that assy through the door panel from the backside and thread the large chrome nut onto the joystick threads from the interior. Adjust the amount of threads the plate engages to suit.

dodj is exactly correct. Just wanted to add that I've never had much luck with the square metal plate preventing the control knob from spinning while threading the chrome nut on. I've alwasy had to hold the control on the inside with something while threading the nut on.

only thing I thought was different is that the metal plate set against the metal part of the door ,,I think there is a slot that holds a small tab on the metal plate to keep it from turning when putting on the chrome nut,,I used alittle tape to hold my plate against the door before I put the door panel on then the chrome nut went on,,at least thats the way I remember it but then again my memory aint what it use be ,,to much :drunk: I suppose

hmmm,  I was afraid that would be the way to install it.  Not a great construction imo.... I think I`ll try to figure out how much space there is between the door and the panel, and see if the metal plate ( or a different one) can be bolted to the metal so the control will be stable.   Thanks for the info guys  :2thumbs:
