Help with installing rear valance 73 challenger no cut outs.
« on: February 11, 2011 - 12:11:23 PM »
I have a 73 challenger without cutouts. I see that both ends attach to the lower trunk extensions and quarters, but how does it attach across the top portion and in the center area. I dont see any brackets in the middle area and nothing across the top. Any pictures would be great. Thanks doug

There are no separate brackets. It attaches in the middle with the bracket that is welded to the centre of the valence as well as the ends.

It sounds like you have a 1970 rear valance.  Does it have a large bracket in the center or just nothing at all.  Post a pic of it.

these would be the correct bracket that mount inward, you will see 2 sets of holes to the right and left of the license plate area. two bolt mount to the rear crossmember and the single bolt end goes to the valance

Mopardave, are you sure they will work for a 73 challenger, the roseville site says 71 barracuda. Will try and get pictures tomorrow. Thanks.

71-74 Challengers only use 1 bracket and it's welded to the center of the valence.  That's it.

You should also have a V shaped bracket in the center of the valence to mount the license plate.  73-74 cars used the V bracket to space the plate out farther from the body because of the 5mph bumpers.

 :iagree:
if you have the later valance then it mounts in the center. I forgot about the 73-74 have the center bracket.  so many parts so many numbers,

pictures of brackets and installation points would be great. I just started hacking up the valance today so it will fit the quarters better.
