Oil sending unit?????????????

Has anyone ever seen one like this? If so, how do I remove it?

Looks like someone added an adapter for multiple outputs.

Take the factory sender off the side 1st.  Then the plug should just unscrew.

Factory installation just has that sender sticking out the side, screwed directly into the block.

If I'm correct, the factory oil sending unit has one connection at the top that the gray wire plugs into.

Yes it does. It's much larger than the oil pressure 'switch' that is in your pic. About an inch or so in diameter and about an inch and a quarter high with the connection on top.

Hey dodj,

I have a question that relates to this topic.  As I now have it set up, I have a brass tee coming off the back of the block with a compression fitting for the small tube that goes to my (aftermarket) oil gauge and on the other side of tee I have a small sending unit(exactly like the one in scat packs picture) for my "dummy" light.  Does this sound correct?  Also, since there are 2 things feeding from the tee, could this cause any problems with accuracy of the  pressure being sent to the 2 devices?

And if you are looking to get rid of the adapter (which I believe is a later factory piece), I would be interested in it!!!!!!

From the looks of that photo, your going to have to pull the intake to unscrew that adapter.
Wouldn't be a bad idea anyway to clean up the intake and get new gaskets.

Sounds right to me, and unless one leaks, there should be no pressure inaccuracies to worry about. Sometimes people use an oil pressure switch to turn off electric fuel pumps in case of accidents. On second look of Scat packs photo it looks like two spade lug terminals so it may have been for that kind of set up instead of a light.

they make a socket to remove that sender.  Give me a yell if you need to borrow mine. But it also looks like the stand might hit the intake, looking at the picture angle.

Thanks for all your help. I was able to take the factory one off the side first and then took a box end wrench and was able to remove it.
