Dash Questions
« on: February 21, 2011 - 07:57:13 PM »
Hello all,
I am in the process of  repainting my Dash Frame and have some questions. First, Does anyone know how the glove box lock comes out? I took the two screws out of the lock but I can't get it apart to get it out of the hole. I saw some previous posts about painting the dash frame with SEM trim black. My next question is would that be the correct color for all the plastic parts as well such as center console, plastic dash pieces, seat hinge covers, pillars, door panels etc..? Also would that be the same paint used for the steering column? I was told to use SEM landau black on the interior parts. I'm not sure if that is correct now that I have seen some other posts. With the SEM paint do you use any type of primer before painting? For the plastic parts I was told to use bulldog adhesion promoter.  Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

There is a little tab next to the spring that has to be pressed to separate.  I struggled with it for a while, and then took it to a locksmith.

In the little square hole there is a tab under the lip that you need to push in. It is not the one you see it is under inside of that hole. Once you push it down it will come apart. I can not get pics to load. I saved some pics that I found when needed to get mine apart. I hope this helps you.
