Seat tag decoding
« on: December 18, 2010 - 11:32:23 PM »
Anyone know how to decode seat tags?

My tag from the rear seat says:

3520616   A
LSI  M  13685  3170

There was some discussion on another thread about whether an odd seat color I had was original or not. Consensus seemed to be that it was not. Since I have no fender tag or broadcast sheet, I'd like to figure it out for when I recover them someday.

3520616 - part number for the seat frame

13685  - Vendor ID number for the outfit that supplied it to Chrysler

3170 - 317th day of 1970 (this would be from the 1971 model year, so this one is not a 1970 model year seat)

I do not know the rest.

If you find any 1971 broadcast sheets inside either (or both) of the front seat backs please let me know?

That's pretty interesting on the build date. My fed sticker from the door jamb says the build date on the car was August 1969. Wonder what else has been swapped out.

I will gladly mail any non matching build sheets I find to you. I read your Hamtrack website and thought that was pretty cool of you to try and match stuff to original owners.

I tried cleaning out the interior but the rain just wouldn't work with me. I got some of the disentigrating carpet and jute pad out and so far, there is no sign of the sheets.

Heres mine.
Looks like the seat was made in May, 1971, and car production date of June, 1971, so mine is a very late made car.

I tore the seats out and discovered the seat coverings are definitely not original. Once I had them apart, it was obvious they were replaced at some point. I am still not convinced they are out of a 1971 though. Everything else on this car has been correct and original other than the seat covers.

my seat had two identical tags. One was just kind of pinched in next to the other.
