71 Cuda NOS fenders, fair price?
« on: March 25, 2011 - 09:15:02 PM »
I know a guy that has a pair of 71 Cuda NOS fenders with the rolled edge. He said he would take 3500.00 for the pair. Is that a decent price? Don't know whether to spend the extra money for the real deal or wait and buy the new AMD repos when they get here.
Thanks
  Jim

Is the rest of the car a perfect specimen, hemi, one of one? If not, you may have a couple of thousand reasons to go with the AMD stuff. IMO.  :2cents:

:iagree:  I was going to make about the same comment myself.   If the car value wise warrants the purchase, then it would be a good deal, but if it is another 71 cuda in not so pristine #1 condition, save your money and use it in another area of your build

I agree.
Seems a good pair of real 71's  go for around 1K.

I wouldn't pay that much.

maybe just me, but the new repop stuff is pretty good at a price that makes it hard to pass up.

Yeah I guess I should have given alittle more Info about what they would be used on. It's a 71 HemiCuda Vert clone, it was prob a #2 condition car when I bought it. Wasn't real happy with the paint, so I stripped it to repaint and found some old damage with more filler than I want to use. When it goes back together it will be all new, top, glass, door panels, dash and pad, seats, pretty much everything. Not that it all needs replaced, everythings in pretty good shape, but I want it all new. I owned a real one for 27 years, the white one and first one built. After I sold it I got this clone as a replacment and what it to be a #1 car. Atleast to start out with, lol. That's why I sold my original, I didn't want a musem peice, I wanted one to drive!

My fenders aren't really that bad, they are rust free Barracuda fenders with the gill section welded in and alittle damage on the front edge, both fenders. Thats what I was going to do is sell them. I called amd today about fenders and went ahead and ordered a pair. The first shipment is due next month and is already sold, Im suposed to get a pair out of next shipment in 2 to 3 months. Hate to wait that long guess thats why I was tempted to buy the nos fenders. I know I can buy Goodmarks but I've heard good and bad about them, seams like the luck of the draw on how good they are. I had tried once to put some pics of it on here but didn't know how to resize them, not that knowledgeable in computer programs.

i wouldnt wait for the amd fenders ,they have been telling people 2 months for 2 years now and do some research their full quarter have had some problems so the is no guarantee the fenders are going to be any different. one thing that will definitely be different is the price, probably about $150-$200 more each then the goodmarks. i bought a set of the goodmarks from daniel at e body products and they fit and look really good. i also agree with the guys and wouldnt spend the money on the nos fenders unless they were going on a v code or hemi car.

I hope you dont have to wait as long as Challenger owners. Seems like for the past 2 years, the 70/71 fenders have been "ready for release in 2 - 3 months."
