Hi Gentlemen,

Newbie from New York here. I'm 22, don't currently own an E-body, but the plan is to get my career kick started (very soon hopefully - I've got my degree, but times are slow), and subsequently invest in a project car (maybe a 6 out of 10, condition-wise). I find myself absolutely lusting over the 'Cudas and the Challengers, so these are my first picks, but it may end up being a Nova, Duster, Chevelle, etc - due to costs. Who needs to get married and have kids anyways? That money can be used for more muscle! And that's exactly the plan.  :cheers:

Anyways, I currently own a 2002 Camaro SS, in 35th Anniversary trim (1 of 3000). She's got 30k miles on her, and is mated with a six-speed T56; LS1 motor of course. I know most of you are exclusively old school muscle, but I figure some of you can appreciate the new technology. I'm a frequent poster on LS1Tech as well - so I'm not sure if any of you are over there.







And I'm a bike guy as well.

Howdy & welcome to E-Body Nirvana         Nice SS     Sounds like you've never owned an older ride, e-bodies may not be the best place to start as it's easy to get upside down and over your head.  You might consider a low buck chevy to start with & see if you enjoy the process, a lot different than owning a pristine late model.

Nice SS.  Nice GSXR, How fast have you gone on it?
I have a 98 Trans Am Ram Air.  Very few made.  WS6, LS1, 6spd.
Also have a Suzuki 750 Katana.

Welcome to the site! :wave:  Nice looking SS & the bike looks like it'd be fun, too. :cheers:  If you really want to start the MoPar addiction but don't necessarily want to jump head first into an E-body, there are always the A-bodies (Darts, Dusters, Demons, etc.).  Any of them could give you a good idea of what to expect with the restoration of an E-body & parts are still relatively reasonable for their platform.

BTW: the color scheme on the Suzuki looks very cool. :grinyes:  One of the guys down at school had a sweet R1 in gloss black with black powder-coated wheels with red pinstripes... :drool: :drool:

Thanks for the welcome guys.

My purchase time frame is hopefully in 1-2 years, and probably about 15k-20k. Hopefully, that will bring a driver quality 'Cuda/Challenger - one that's not perfect, but needs touch up all around. I'm very mechanical - I would just need some help with paint and body work, if it came to that.

I am indeed going to stick around here to learn the ins and outs of the E-body platform, since, from what I've gathered thus far, it may not be the easiest "project car" realm. Pricing, OEM specs, rarity, options, and restoration processes are some things I'm looking to learn with meticulous detail. Hopefully my future E-body purchase won't fall into the "decade of restoration" statistic - I'm not the type of guy to let that happen anyways. I'm also the type of guy that doesn't need the car to be perfect, it just needs to drive and look good whilst doing so.

That sounds like a pretty good plan. Your Camaro is probably faster, but an E-body is way cooler(my opinion, of course).

I'm a bike guy, too, but I'm past the crotch rockets. I have a Softail and a Goldwing.
