71 Rallye Dash clock fix
« on: March 29, 2011 - 07:53:59 AM »
My clock will run for a minute or so if you wind it but then die. Will the RTE quartz clock kit fix this? or is that for something else...?

Call me.... My friend and I just rebuilt mine and it's easier to fix than you might think.  PM me for my number.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

PMed you my number.  It's an easy fix.

The tic toc clock is run by a small spring.  The clock rewinds the spring by a small short in the contact area.  It's kinda of funny how simple the clock is.  The two contact areas slowly get closer to each other as the clock spins until they get close enough to short out and the tiny little short (you'll see the spark) fires and rewinds the spring.  I'll bet you the contact area on the two contacts are corroded and that's why it works for a minute or two but does not keep going.

Cody,

Where were you a few years ago? I sent mine out for a rebuild, but it was doing the same thing...Run for a minute and quit.   :sadwavey:
