1971 Cuda FM Radio??
« on: April 15, 2011 - 05:30:39 PM »
Starting the search for a radio for my car and trying to figure out which is the correct one. One site that read says that all 70 and 71 Cudas that had AM/FM were thumb wheel radios, not knobs. Is this correct?

Great info.  I was fortunate that the ebay seller I just bought mine from was accurate, otherwise I would have not known the difference at the time.

That is the site where I was that the AM/FM in 1971 was a thumb wheel, that is what got me to ask to question if it was correct. I don't think I have ever seen a picture of an AM/FM Thumb wheel in a 71 so I wasn't sure if the info was correct.

anyone know what 71 FM thumbwheels typically sell for?
And where the "modern" versions can be had with ipod connections?
Thanks.

just checked ebay and found one asking $1000.
There goes that idea.

Not sure the price. (oh. I see it now. 79 bucks to convert) But this is where a section or area somehow setup for just links would be nice. Tommy that same web site AARuFAST linked to has the conversons.

My 1970 'Cuda with AM/FM multiplex stereo radio was a thumb wheel.   :2thumbs:
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Matching numbers 440 U Code, 4 speed pistol grip, Rallye dash, AM 8 Track, Shaker hood, 15 inch rallye wheels, Dana 60 4.10, Super Track Pak.  One of 134 - 440 "U" coupes codes built in 1970 and one of 100 - 440 Super Track Paks built in 1970.

(Edited 8-1-17)

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

My Gran Coupe has the R22 code. AM 8 Track radio.
I also was concerned if it was correct.
Searched the web and found the site I posted.
My radio's are correct on both my AAR and Gran Coupe.
