Are 71 'cuda seats awful for comfort and style?
« on: March 03, 2011 - 12:25:42 AM »
I am replacing the seat upolstery and foam in my cuda this spring.  My 'cuda is a 73' cloned to a 71, still retaining the 73 interior.   I want my 'cuda to be as much like a 71 as possible, but I'm not sure it's worth the sacrifice of comfort and style (the 73 style curves your body, the 71 is like a church pew).  The interior WILL be replaced reguardless because it is torn and currently sports some cheap seat covers.

Question:  The seat covers in the 71 cuda look TERRIBLY uncomfortable and very simply and tasteless.  Are they uncomforable?

Question 2: Take a look at this car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/440-Six-Pack-4-Speed-COMPLETE-ROTISSERIE-RESTORED-/280628294764?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4156bff46c

Are these an original style for a 71 cuda?  Because these look better and appear more comfortable.

Thanks for the input,
Dale

Install the '71 leather seat covers.  Much better looking.  :2thumbs:

Jeff (71340RT) installed all new foam buns on his seats. He and his wife say that their seats are so stiff that they are uncomfortable.  Jeff says that he will go to an upholstery shop and get some foam cut out to replace his the next time.

I guess you're stuck if you don't have anything to start with besides the '73 foam. Those "standard" seats are soooo flat looking  and leaves your butt impression in them when you first get out.

Challengers have so many more choices so I can see why that seller put Deluxe seat covers in that Cuda.

At the Mopar Indy Trade Show last week, Ken Mosier was selling a deluxe interior for a convertible CUDA. It was the same layout.  Are you sure that Cudas didn't have those optional seats?
Seems like he should know since most of his stuff is premium stuff.
