knewbee . . . . noob . . . . . . ah, hell I'm a newbie

Hi Guys & Gals, you all have some nice cars! Love all the smilies too.

My name is Terry, I'm in northern California and if I can figure out where to put the profile information, I'll post up the stats.
I am a Challenger addict. I now own a 2010 TorRed SRT8 Challenger with the Tremec six-speed.

This is my fourth (told you I was addicted) Challenger, my first in 1981 was a 73 340 in Top Banana with black vinyl, that I painted burgundy. My second in 1988 was a 72 Rallye 340 in Rally Red. My third in 2008 a TorRed R/T with automatic traded in January 2010 for my SRT.
When I figure out how to post a picture I will .
Never mind, I think I got it!

:ylsuper:  Welcome to the site, Terry!  Your '10 srt8 would have made a nice calendar entry for our 2013 calendars.  I'm thinking that you like the color RED.  Have any pictures of your '73?

Welcome, from another newbie.   P-u-r-d-y!!!   Y'know, I was torn between buying a new Challenger or an older one and, standout cars like yours make me second guess my decision to get the '73 I did  LOL     :stirpot:

Let's see if I can get all the photos in here. These are pics of my 73 after being straightened and painted.

What she looked like when I got her.

These are the only photos I got while she was being straightened, my dad and brother had a shop and my dad straightened it, he had a problem getting it to pull out and had to take the skin and inner wheel well off. We got a clip out of the wrecking yard, but that was in '82 or '83.

Ohh . . . . the memories, brought both of our girls home from the hospital in it.

As for my 72, I have to go through a lot of photos to find the negs (35mm) from the pics I have, never got it finished like I did the '73. I'm sure most of you know that kids, home, and almost everything comes before an auto you need to fix.

great pictures and story.  what was the story on how the '73 took a hit?  That rear quarter sure absorbed some force.

great pictures and story.  what was the story on how the '73 took a hit?  That rear quarter sure absorbed some force.

My dad was friends with the guy who was holding the car for the insurance company, he said it was hit by a truck, just your normal rear-ender.  :22yikes:
I don't think I've ever seen my dad have that much trouble straightening anything. If you look at the third picture you'll see where he hooked up the frame straightener to the area where the bumper is bolted on. :banghead: While trying to pull that, it pulled the bolts completely out and didn't do a thing for straightening the frame. (I know it's a uni-body and doesn't have a "frame" frame). After welding on the plate (next photo) he had to pull the skin off and take out the bent wheel well, then he was able to pull it. On the last photo you can see the bar that runs from the wheel well over the top of the car and back over to the other side to strengthen the body. That bar had gotten bent and until he was able to release the tension, he couldn't pull it.
I find it amazing as to how strong these cars really are, even the ones today are pretty stout, just don't breath on the skin.  :burnout:
