antenna picture request
« on: April 12, 2011 - 09:21:04 PM »
I need to see some close-up pictures of the antenna base on top of the fender.  With the chrome bezel and nut installed, how far does the black rubber section stick up past the nut?  I'm sure every car is a little different so I'd like to see a few examples if I could.

Here's my issue...First of all the fenders are Goodmark so that could be some of the problem right there.  I bought a new bezel and nut but the bezel doesn't fit the profile of the fender.  It has a lot more curve to it then it should.  I put the old pitted bezel back on and it fits perfectly.

Second, the new antenna nut is a little shorter(1/8" maybe)than the origonal one.  I'm not able to get the new nut started on the threads of the antenna base.

I'm sending my origonal bezel out for rechroming and will have to modify the half circle piece that sits beneith the antenna hole in order for the base to engage the threaded nut.  I need to see how far that rubber piece should stick up past the antenna nut so I can determine how much material needs to be removed from that half circle thingy.  Did any of what I just typed make sence?

Here are 2 pics of the antenna on my 1970 'Cuda.  The black rubber section on mine is exactly 11/32" exposed between the chrome castle type nut and the antenna. Hope this helps.

Perfect!!! Thank you! :worshippy  Exactly what I needed.

I assume every car will vary slightly.  Does anyone else have a pic of theirs.  I'd like to get an idea of what was acceptable from the factory.  Right now, I can push up on the antenna base and get the origonal nut started but the rubber piece is flush with the nut.  I think the under structure of the Goodmark fender is different then a factory fender.
