Dealership Demo & is there a Central Registry List

Just wondering if there is anyplace etc on a 1971 dodge challenger where it refers
to the car as a dealership demo?

Also just wondering if there is a central registry for all legit challengers from 1970 to 1974
to keep a track of them and verify their legitimacy? as well as a list of original & unrestored (survivior)
challengers compared to those that are fully restored and changed etc.?

I kinda know what a broadcast sheet is. Where is the best place & easiest place to find one on a challenger?

List of places to check the car for broadcast sheets;

Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert.
Under the front bucket seats in the springs
Inside the bucket seat backs
Under the rear seat bottom
In the rear seat back.
Under the package tray(speaker shelf)
Under the carpet


If it is / was a dealer demonstrator car it will be coded as such on the broadcast sheet. It may be on the original window sticker as well if you have that?

My pleasure. Please check inside both bucket seats, it is common to find a broadcast sheet for another car or two in them. I try and get them to the cars they match when that happens. Just compare the VIN number on the top line of each broadcast sheet you find to see if they match.

I believe that service works best on newer cars. Maybe 1990 on.  Not too much on our old cars

...demos are at the discretion of the dealership, and not coded or marked as such anywhere on the vehicle

...the difficulty in a survivor registry would be verifying the car as a true "survivor"...who would judge the individual cars....the only real "survivor" MOPARS are the ones judged so by Bloomington Gold, all else are judged by the owners as such and may or may not be worthy of the title

are you refering to "SPECIAL HANDLING"....dealer demos I have encountered thru the years are ones the dealership owner or sales manager just decide to use for a while, then sell cheaper due to the miles driven...I have owned a few "SPECIAL HANDLING" cars, one was a "RAPID TRANSIT" show car....but I never heard of a car being coded for the dealer to let his wife drive

Spending time reading all of the posting.
Regarding dealer demo. Y-13 code.
I purchased a Gran Coupe Convertible on Dec. 2008.
Folder full of documentation.
Buildsheet has a Y-13 code.
The car was built for Sierra Chrysler/Plymouth Fresno, Ca.
The built date is 929.
The car was sold Dec 21 1970.
The dealer had the car at least 12 month before selling it. Depends on when he received delivery.
The Y-13 code car is loaded with almost every option for the dealer to promote the new e-body style for the 70's.

The Gran Coupe Convetible has almost every option available.
Even a locking gas cap is listed on build sheet. It had the trailer package, since removed, without trailer package it would have had cruise control I assume.
You can't have both. Still sporting the original dealer license frame and Ca. tags from 1970.
Previous owner removed luggage rack and trailer hitch, replaced the Ca. rear valence with a duel exhaust thru valence.
He Added sport hood.  Sold rubber bumper. Lot of changes by previous owner.
 I switched the 14 in Mag wheels for 15 in Rallye.
The first picture is at a carshow at Van Nays Ca. with the previous owner.
