interior trim screws
« on: May 02, 2011 - 09:16:36 PM »
My fastener guide says that the front window trim as well as the rear window trim(the metal trim) is held on with #8-18 X .75" chrome screws.   I havn't been able to find a bunch of #8 screws.  I do however have 27 chrome #10 X .75" screws...the same diameter that is used on the rear view mirror and the sun visors.  Can anyone confirm that their 73 uses the smaller #8 screw?  Where in the world would all those larger ones go?

Upper front trim and rear trim all #8 screws on my car Burdar. I have no idea where 27 #10 screws would go. Door sills might be #10 but that only uses up 8 screws.  :clueless:

These have a beveled head on them.  The sills should use a screw with a flat head and I think they are the smaller size.  I'm stumped.  There is a possibility that some of the #10's are from another car but not all of them.

I bought an interior screw set, and found that there was no way those longer screws were going to work for the window trims. I went down to my local Fastenal store and bought a bag of stainless steel screws with the beveled head. Painted them black and  wa laa, took care of that issue.

The interior trim screws should be chrome.  It's kind of strainge that they weren't black though.

I tried installing a #8 screw into the origonal holes and it was really loose.  I don't think it would have tightened up.  I think my car used the bigger screws for some reason.  If it did use the smaller ones, I have no idea where they all went....they aren't with all the other interior screws.
