Didn't make it to Carlisle at all this year, but I read everyone had a good time.
Yeah the sound can be hard to describe ( I never was around any old sewing machines I guess
) but there is some "rattle" I guess is a good way to put it... nothing that seemed too harsh.
I got it fired up, made sure there were no leaks, knocked the dizzy in close & was so excited had to take it for a spin... and she hauls! Traction will be a problem lol.
Iron block & aluminum head, and I'm at the .014 cold. did not check hot, just pulled a cover to make sure after the 1st run everything looked OK.
I did check when assembling...
Rocker arm to shaft clearance, obviously the lash, also the rocker arm tip to valve tip positioning ( making sure the tip was over the middle of the valve stem )
The sound itself is not a killer for me, more of just a confirmation that some noise is OK.
This is going to be a lot of fun
PS!! It just struck me CP says .015 HOT... as I did mine cold.
I could heat up and hang valves open I would think ( have not gone on any real drive yet ) so will have to re-adjust!!
