Park Brake no longer engaging.
« on: May 29, 2011 - 10:20:34 PM »
So I put my foot down to engage the park brake, and half way down it just popped and went strait to the floor with zero resistance. A small bracket/clamp that holds the cable against the pedal had popped off, but being unfamiliar with the set-up I'm unsure if this is the sole problem or not. I've taken a few pics below but because of the location, they're kind of limited.

I've gone through the length of the cable as best I can from front to back, and everything else seems to be OK. The problem appears to come from the actual pedal/bracket end of it.

If I hold the cable steady where the bracket popped off and push the pedal, it appears to work properly - but as it sits, when I press the pedal, nothing seems to grab the cable and pull it through.

Hope that makes sense.

Here's a few pics - so maybe someone that has seen the other side of one of these off the car may be able to point something out to me. Plus if possible, someone have an image of exactly what part that clamp holds down: whether it be the cable, or the nut-head etc. Any help is appreciated.

You're a champ! Thanks mate.

By the looks of the the clamp that holds the cable in it's spot is all I need. The piece that was on there that popped off was a definite home-made effort using crappy material. I can bend it with my fingers.

Just have to find something substantial to hold it in place - plus as it sits, I can't actually get the cable back far enough to where it needs to be.

Thanks for the pics
