I'm thinking of bypassing the heater... I don't need extra heat in the car out here in So. Cal.

Is it better to just plug it or run the hose directly from the outlet to the water pump (looks kinda crappy)?

My concerns are:

1. the heater box is new... will it destroy the box over time if it is left dry?
2. if I plug it, does that impact performance of the water pump?

I plugged several heaters that were broke and had no coolingissues, it looks indeed better with the hoses connected.

Disconnecting the heater is no big deal but maybe you can run the hoses and plug them internally so the core doesn't get any water. The water pump wouldn't notice anything as the heater is really on a by-pass anyway. It will look more original and having the heater tubes sticking out of the firewall looks bad in my opinion.

Ya, I plugged mine. But be careful! They break easy ,You need to tap threads (pipe) into the waterpump for the plug. You could just run a short hose. But why? I saw no temp. Change. Ya those hoses are fuggly!
