Vapor Separator

I am about to reinstall the Gas Tank in my Wife's 73 Challenger.  I purchased the correct 73 tank to go with the Separator.

1 I plan to clean up the Separator.  Is there anything inside the Separator, or is it just an empty can?

2 I don't know if I have anything of the original parts from the Separator forward.  The old pics on here are gone, can anyone help out?

3 If I terminate the large line without original "stuff" should I cap the line, leave the hose off, or run a line to some particular point, other?

4 Should I replace the blanket on top of the tank or leave it off?  I worry about the moisture rusting the top of the tank out, like the original.

5 Thoughts on painting the tank with spray-on bed liner?  rust prevention??

1/ What's in the separator? Beats me. 
2/ From the separator forward, It goes from the separator to the charcoal (usually gone by now) canister (Engine compartment) and then to the carb.
3/ I ran mine to the highest point above the rear axle and put a fuel filter on it to keep out dust. Good idea? I'm not sure. Maybe someone has a better idea.
4/ IMO, yes
5/ Sprayed mine with regular undercoating. (tar kind of stuff)

I have tried cleaning the VS, and when I try blowing thru it nothing comes out .... any ideas on  this?

seems like there is a check valve in one of the tubes

Well I can say one trip thru the dishwasher ....(don't tell my wife hehe) and a little more play and she seams to have broken free.

I put a nice coat of high temp primer on and will see how long it takes to get the tank installed.

I now have to connect the spider web of fuel lines, get a blanket for the top of the tank, blow out all of the main fuel lines and hope the fuel pump and carb are in good shape.

the original blanket was a tar coated cloth type deal
 IMO replace it , I used plastic packing , minute bubble wrap / foam as it will not hold water

I had considered spray-on bed liner.  I have been talked out of it ...

The top of her tank had rusted out (a perfect shape of the old blanket.) and I was afraid the problem had been moisture getting trapped between the mat and the tank.

Somehow over the years, the bolts that connect the VS to the body have gone missing(mixed with other bolts).

Anyone have a pic of the correct bolts (so that I might dig out the correct ones)

I don't have a picture of those bolts but I can take one tonight.  They have a large washer on them...3/4" maybe.

That would be appreciated .... I think it was two bolts, not one long shaft, but I will wait to see what you have.

Yep, it's two short bolts with a large captive washer on them.  I'll take a pic tonight.

The fastener guide doesn't list those bolts.  I got a picture of the correct ones(off of a 74) from a guy on Moparts but  I can't seem to find it.  I looked in my tub of fasteners but don't think I found a bolt that matched the ones pictured exactly.

My VS had an impression of a washer on the mounting tabs.  I looked through my fasteners and found two bolts that had the same sized captive washer and that also fit the nuts on the shock x-member bracket.  The only thing I'm not sure on is the length of the original fasteners.  I'm using a 5/16" bolt that is 1 1/4" long.  It has a 1/2" head and a 3/4" captive washer.  The bolts are phosphated.

Once I pulled those fasteners off the car I remembered that they may not be the correct ones.  The washer size is correct though.  Just the overall length is in question.  Sorry
