Another newb
« on: May 31, 2011 - 02:47:41 PM »
Hi everyone.  Just purchased a 71 challenger.  Orange with a 340.  Originally a 318.  First question.  the paint is good, not excellent and the car needs to sit outside for a couple of weeks.  Is it better to keep a car cover on it or not.  It gets extremely hot down here (alabama).  Just wondering what your thoughts were on car covers

Nice ride mate.

Absolutely cover the car if it's staying outside for a length of time. Just bought myself a $300 car cover and whilst pricey, with the amount of rain I've had here lately it's earned its worth 10 fold.

I wasn't going to bother at first. I'm a practitioner of driving the hell out of my car and don't care about dings, stone chips, rain etc that may occur whilst driving - but I realised there's no use deliberately ruining it by letting it rot outside in the elements. If a $300 car cover extends the life of the car a few years before the body needs some work - then that's a few more years of fun out in it, and a few more years to save $$$!!!

It's got  10 inch crager SS in the back, not sure I am happy with that.  Just got some new trim for it, front hood lip and rear trunk trim, as well as some new door sill trim.  Sure does make it look much better.  Thanks for all your comments.  I am new to the mopar world, as you could probably tell from what is in the garage.  Have a 65, 04 comm. Edition Z06, and a 09 Z06 corvette, but don't hold that against me.
