No what I am saying is the RPM & SD are on a very even basis for power , but a lot of people stay away from single plane intakes believing the engine will be more responsive with a dual plane although this is not true . The lower SD intake will allow a larger air cleaner though possibly even a 4" tall element with a drop base .
I would use an 850 Proform carb on a 440 , 750 is too small

Yeah I like the SD... the proforms will work with them no problem right?
Also It doesn't look like proform has a 850 with vac. secondaries according to their website.  The vac sec are a must, mainly because this is a street car that WILL get driven... and I need good drivability as well as a good WOT.
Yeah i do agree with you though an 850 cfm would be better since 440 * 2 = 880.. I just need to find the right combo that will fit my needs

Yeah no 850 vacuum other than the Thermoquad I would still go with the proform though you ask a few people here who have installed the Proform & love the way they run , both drivability & milage as long as you can keep your foot out of the Loud pedal .
You will need to clearance the choke well about 1/4" down under the secondary throttle shaft on the SD intake , other then that it is a bolt on deal

here is a manifold comparison that shows why so many of us like the Street Dominator

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/engine/mopp_0207_intake_manifold_engine_and_rpm_range_test/viewall.html

It works all the way.  I switched from the regular performer to the SD and lost no vacuum on the bottom end and the throttle response and power are very good...and it fits under the hood.

It makes since to me, but one thing I really don't understand is the advertised rpm for the Holley SD.  idle-4800rpm? Is this really true? Why is it rated so low?
It's like a giant puzzle you need the right pieces! I've got quite a bit of time before I start doing all of this, so I'll be able to do my research before I make my mind up.

Smaller plenum , low rise with smaller runners makes higher velocity so it has a nice fat mid range powerband

If you read some of the reviews, others ask the same thing because it performs, in use, much better than the advertised range.  I suspect Holley was trying to convince people that their single plane manifold worked as well as dual planes down low.   As you see from the test, it has a very broad range and does not fall off up top as one might expect from the ads.  I think Neil has pretty well summed it up.

Well I'm in the process of purchasing a new SD, I have a weiand Team G on now, which is horrible for a street car to be honest... I feel like it'll be night and day once I swap them out.  The car seems to fall on its face at low rpms.

I do have it... and yes after I make the switch I will sell it to ya. How much do you want to buy it for?
I'm not trying to make money and I have no need for it so I don't mind selling it cheap.  You may have to wait a little while though if you don't mind, I'm in college and won't be able to get it off till my next break in school.  But I'll make sure you have first dibs.

RB, Street Dominator, 4779, plain-jane 'flat" hood that won't clear cool "440" dual snorkel air cleaner. Street Dom works good though. Runners're narrowed up some near the exit to help with "throttle response" and stuff. M1 isn't like that.
